Product Description
The Simpson BA5.12/16 Top-Flange Joist Hanger is built for engineered wood and solid sawn lumber framing connections, providing dependable support for double 2-1/2 in. x 16 in. members across a range of load conditions. This top-flange hanger carries medium loads with solid sawn lumber and higher loads with engineered wood products, giving builders and contractors the flexibility to address moderate and demanding structural requirements with a single hanger model. The BA series supports minimum nailing with positive-angle nailing (PAN) for moderate load conditions and maximum nailing configurations for higher load demands, all in a cost-effective, one-piece 12-gauge steel construction with a G90 zinc galvanized finish.
Key Features
- Cost-effective one-piece design - eliminates the added expense and complexity of welded hangers, reducing installed cost without sacrificing structural performance.
- Full-height joist flange - captures the top chord of the joist to prevent rotation and eliminate the need for web stiffeners, simplifying installation and reducing additional hardware requirements.
- Positive-angle nailing (PAN) support - allows minimum nailing to target moderate load conditions or maximum nailing to support higher loads, giving contractors precise control over load capacity on the job site.
- 12-gauge steel construction - delivers the structural rigidity needed for medium to higher load joist and beam hanger installations in engineered wood and solid sawn lumber applications.
- G90 zinc galvanized finish - provides extra corrosion resistance, extending the service life of the connection in environments where moisture exposure is a concern.
- Available for sloped and/or skewed framing configurations - accommodates non-standard framing angles, making this hanger a practical choice for complex roof and floor framing layouts.
Why This Product
- Dual-application versatility - engineered to perform with both engineered wood products and solid sawn lumber, this hanger adapts to the framing material on hand rather than requiring separate hardware for each application.
- Rotation prevention built in - the full-height joist flange locks the top chord in place without web stiffeners, cutting down on extra parts and labor while maintaining a secure, code-compliant connection.
- Scalable load capacity through nailing - the choice between PAN minimum nailing and maximum nailing patterns means one hanger model can meet varying load requirements on the same project, reducing the need to stock multiple hanger sizes.
- One-piece durability with long-term protection - the combination of 12-gauge steel and a G90 galvanized coating means the hanger resists both structural stress and corrosion, supporting reliable framing connections over the life of the structure.
