What is the difference between the SUR and SUL hangers?

The SUR and SUL hangers are identical in design except for the direction of their skew. The SUR is skewed 45 deg. to the right, while the SUL is skewed 45 deg. to the left. Choose the model that matches the direction of your framing angle.

Can the SUR2.06/9 be field-modified to adjust the skew angle?

No. These hangers cannot be modified in the field. However, the SUR2.06/9 is designed to accommodate a joist skewed anywhere between 40 deg. and 50 deg., providing some flexibility without requiring alteration.

What fasteners are required to install the SUR2.06/9?

Install with (14) 0.162 x 3-1/2 in. nails in the face and (2) 0.148 x 1-1/2 in. nails in the joist, OR (16) #9 x 1-1/2 in. Strong-Drive SD Connector screws (SD9112).

Are web stiffeners required when using the SUR2.06/9?

No. Because the U-shaped design encapsulates the top flange of the joist, no web stiffeners are required for standard installation, simplifying the installation process.
