What is the difference between the SUR and SUL hangers?

The SUR and SUL hangers are identical in design except for their skew direction. The SUR is skewed 45 deg. to the right, while the SUL is skewed 45 deg. to the left. Select the SUL2.56/9 when your joist connects to the header from the left side at a skewed angle.

Can the SUL2.56/9 be field-modified to adjust the skew angle?

No. These hangers cannot be modified in the field. However, the SUL2.56/9 is designed to accommodate joist skew angles ranging from 40 deg. to 50 deg., providing a degree of flexibility without requiring any alteration to the hanger.

What fasteners are required to install the SUL2.56/9?

Install with (14) 0.162 x 3-1/2 in. nails in the face and (2) 0.148 x 1-1/2 in. nails in the joist, OR (16) #9 x 1-1/2 in. Strong-Drive SD Connector screws (SD9112).
