Product Description

The Simpson Adjustable I-Joist Truss Hanger from Simpson is engineered specifically for I-joist framing applications, featuring extra-long straps that can be field-formed on the job site to provide height adjustability and top-flange hanger convenience - making it a versatile solution for a wide range of structural framing configurations where precision fit and reliable load transfer are essential.

Key Features

  • Extra-long straps designed for field-forming - allows height adjustability directly on the job site, reducing the need for pre-fabricated or specialty hangers and saving installation time
  • Top-flange hanger convenience - simplifies installation by allowing the strap to be formed over the top of the header, giving framers a familiar and efficient workflow
  • Positive-angle nailing - helps eliminate splitting of the I-joist's bottom flange, protecting the structural member during fastening and preserving load-carrying integrity
  • Galvanized finish on 18-gauge steel construction - provides corrosion resistance in exposed or moisture-prone framing environments, supporting long-term structural performance
  • Maximum load capacity achieved with full face nailing - using the specified total of 20 face nails in THAI straps (or 30 for THAI-2 straps) unlocks the hanger's full rated load, giving contractors clear performance targets in the field
  • Uplift load capability when lowest face nails are filled - expands the hanger's structural versatility to applications where uplift resistance is a design requirement

Why This Product

  • Field-adjustable design reduces job site complications - the extra-long, field-formable straps adapt to varying header heights without requiring multiple hanger sizes, keeping projects on schedule and reducing material waste
  • Built for I-joist-specific demands - engineered with positive-angle nailing to protect the I-joist bottom flange, this hanger addresses the unique vulnerabilities of engineered lumber that standard hangers may not account for
  • Scalable load performance tied to fastener count - the clear relationship between face nail quantity and load capacity gives structural designers and framers precise, predictable results they can plan around with confidence
  • American-made by a trusted structural connector brand - produced domestically by Simpson, a name widely recognized in structural connector engineering, supporting quality assurance on every connection

Frequently Asked Questions

Do web stiffeners need to be used with the THAI2.06/22?

Yes. Web stiffeners are required for all I-joists used with these hangers to ensure proper load transfer and structural integrity.

How far must the strap be field-formed over the top of the header for top nailing installations?

For top nailing installations, the strap must be field-formed over the top of the header by a minimum of 21/2".

How do I achieve maximum load-carrying capacity with the THAI2.06/22?

Maximum load-carrying capacity is achieved when a total of 20 face nails are used in THAI straps. For THAI-2 straps, the maximum is reached with 30 face nails. Load should be reduced by the allowable nail shear capacity for each nail less than the maximum.

What is required to achieve uplift loads with this hanger?

To achieve uplift loads, the lowest face nails must be filled. Always use all specified fasteners and verify that the header can accept the fasteners specified in the load table.
