Product Description
The Simpson Strong-Tie DSSCB46-KT25 is a 4 in. x 6 in. Bypass Framing Drift Strut Connector engineered to anchor cold-formed steel bypass framing to the edge of a floor slab in order to accommodate horizontal building drift. Designed specifically for panelized construction, the DSSCB simplifies installation by allowing installers to set finished panels while working off the top of the slab - eliminating the need to predrill or preinstall anchors for each individual clip. It also removes the coordination difficulties typically associated with pre-anchorage of standard bypass clips. Featuring prepunched slots and round holes, the DSSCB serves as a dual-function connector suitable for both slide-clip and fixed-clip applications. This kit includes 25 connectors and 83 precision-manufactured shouldered screws, all made in the United States from 97 mil (12 ga.), 50 ksi steel with a G90 zinc galvanized finish for lasting corrosion resistance.
Key Features
- Full 1 in. deflection in both directions: Prepunched slots provide a full 1 in. of both upward and downward deflection, accommodating real-world building movement without compromising structural integrity.
- Precision-manufactured shouldered screws included: Shouldered screws provided with the DSSCB connectors are designed to prevent overdriving and to ensure the clip functions properly throughout its service life.
- Compatible with 7/8-in. and 1-5/8-in. strut channels: Works with 7/8-in. and 1-5/8-in. strut channels; common manufactured brands are Unistrut, PHD and B-Line. Struts are not supplied by Simpson Strong-Tie.
- Defined slide-clip standoff distances: The maximum slide-clip standoff distance is 3-1/8 in. for 7/8-in. struts, 3-7/8 in. for 1-5/8-in. struts, and 2-1/4 in. for concrete inserts.
- Flexible strut anchorage options: Depending on the application and the designer's specifications, struts can be either mechanically anchored, welded, or cast in place.
- Dual-function connector: With both prepunched slots and round holes, the DSSCB can be used for slide-clip and fixed-clip applications within a single product.
- Assembly-tested design values: Tabulated design values are based on assembly testing to mitigate risk for designers, engineers, and architects.
- Heavy-gauge steel construction: Made from 97 mil (12 ga.), 50 ksi steel for high-strength, reliable performance in cold-formed steel framing assemblies.
- G90 galvanized finish: Zinc galvanized (G90) coating provides enhanced corrosion resistance in demanding construction environments.
- 25-piece kit: Quantity of 25 connectors per box, paired with all required shouldered screws for immediate installation.
