The Simpson Strong-Tie BA314 is a top-flange joist hanger engineered for both engineered wood products and solid sawn lumber applications in medium- to higher-load conditions. Designed for a nominal 3x14 member size, this one-piece hanger delivers structural reliability without the cost or complexity of welded alternatives. The BA314 supports minimum nailing with positive-angle nailing (PAN) for moderate load conditions and accommodates maximum nailing configurations to handle higher loads - making it a versatile solution across a wide range of framing applications.

Installation

Install with 0.162 in. x 3-1/2 in. nails in the header and 0.148 in. x 1-1/2 in. nails in the joist.

Options

  • Other widths are available; specify W dimension (the minimum W dimension is 1 9/16").
  • For modified hangers, fastener quantity listed in tables may need to increase depending on joist size, skew and slope. All modified hangers are 12 ga.
  • Hangers may be modified for slopes and/or skews up to 45 deg.. The top flanges may be sloped as much as 35 deg. and may be open or closed up to 30 deg.. See Modifications and Associated Load Reductions under Specifications
