The Simpson CCQ98SDS2.5ROT is an 8-3/4 x 8 Column Cap with Rotated Straps engineered to deliver strong, reliable column-beam connections in wood construction. The seat of the column cap provides an additional surface area of bearing that extends beyond each side of the column, helping to distribute the load from the beam and provide support for the connection. Featuring Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws, this column cap offers fast installation while attaching to a greater net section area of the column than standard bolt attachment. The 90-degree rotated strap configuration (ROT) is ideal where structural geometry demands an alternative fastening orientation.

- Can lag screws be substituted for the included SDS screws?
- No. Installation requires 1/4 in. x 2-1/2 in. Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws, which are provided with the column cap. Lag screws will not achieve the same load.
- Why use SDS screws instead of standard through bolts?
- The SDS screws provide a lower profile than standard through bolts and attach to a greater net section area of the column than bolt attachment normally entails, resulting in improved load performance and a cleaner installation.
- Is a column cap only version available for field-welding to pipe or other columns?
- Yes. CCOQ and ECCOQ column cap only (no straps) may be ordered for field-welding to pipe or other columns. Dimensions are the same as the CCQ and ECCQ.
- What load conditions has this column cap been enhanced for?
- Uplift loads have been increased for earthquake or wind loading, making this column cap suitable for structures in high-demand seismic or wind zones.

Standard Shipping is free on orders over $50 within the contiguous US. If the order is under $50.00, the shipping is $9.99 set fee for shipping within the contiguous US.

Orders/Items too large or heavy may require special handling/Shipping and may require to be sent by truck. Someone must be present to accept truck deliveries. Standard truck delivery is to a dock facility designed to receive freight. You will be notified within 24 hours of ordering to confirm delivery. Lift gates for deliveries are available for an additional fee.
