What is the difference between the SUR and SUL hangers?

The SUR and SUL hangers are identical in construction except for their skew direction - the SUR is skewed 45 deg. to the right and the SUL is skewed 45 deg. to the left. Select the SUL2.37/14 when your joist frames into a header or beam at a left-skewed angle.

Can the SUL2.37/14 be field-modified to adjust the skew angle?

No. These hangers cannot be modified. However, the SUL2.37/14 will accommodate a joist skew angle ranging from 40 deg. to 50 deg., providing a degree of flexibility for field conditions within that range.

What fasteners are required to install the SUL2.37/14?

Install with (18) 0.162 x 3-1/2 in. nails in the face and (2) 0.148 x 1-1/2 in. nails in the joist, OR (20) #9 x 1-1/2 in. Strong-Drive SD Connector screws (SD9112).

Are web stiffeners required when using this hanger?

No. The U-shaped design of the SUL2.37/14 encapsulates the top flange of the joist, so no web stiffeners are required for standard installation.
