The Simpson Strong-Tie SUL2.1/11 SUL Galvanized Joist Hanger for 2-1/16 in. x 11-7/8 in. Engineered Wood, Skewed Left is a 45 deg.-skewed U-shaped connector engineered to support solid sawn and engineered wood products in wood construction. Designed by Simpson Strong-Tie, this hanger encapsulates the top flange of the joist, eliminating the need for web stiffeners during standard installation and delivering a reliable, high-strength connection for skewed framing applications.

- What is the difference between the SUR and the SUL hanger?
- The SUR and SUL hangers are identical in construction except for their skew direction. The SUR is skewed 45 deg. to the right, while the SUL is skewed 45 deg. to the left. Choose the SUL when your joist meets the header at a left-hand 45 deg. angle.
- Can the SUL2.1/11 be field-modified to adjust the skew angle?
- No. These hangers cannot be modified in the field. However, the SUL2.1/11 is designed to accommodate a joist skewed anywhere from 40 deg. to 50 deg., providing a small degree of flexibility around the nominal 45 deg. angle.
- Are web stiffeners required when installing the SUL2.1/11?
- No web stiffeners are required for standard installation. The U-shaped design encapsulates the top flange of the joist, which eliminates this requirement and simplifies the installation process.
- What fasteners are required to install the SUL2.1/11?
- Install with (16) 0.162 x 3-1/2 in. nails in the face and (2) 0.148 x 1-1/2 in. nails in the joist, OR (18) #9 x 1-1/2 in. Strong-Drive SD Connector screws (SD9112). The obround nail holes on the acute side allow nails to be installed parallel to the joist for easier fastening.

Lift gates for deliveries are available for an additional fee.
