Product Description

The Simpson LMA6Z ZMAX Galvanized Mudsill Anchor is a one-piece structural connector engineered by Simpson as an economical alternative to 1/2-in. sill plate anchor bolts for residential and light commercial framing. Designed for use with nominal 2x6 or 3x6 sill plates, this mudsill anchor mounts directly onto forms before concrete is poured, eliminating the alignment headaches caused by misplaced anchor bolts. Its ZMAX galvanized finish delivers enhanced corrosion resistance for exterior and treated-wood applications, and its one-piece construction means no loose nuts or washers to misplace on the job site. Compatible with both stemwall and slab foundations, it is a practical, installation-friendly solution for anchoring sill plates to concrete.

Key Features

  • One-piece design with no nuts or washers - simplifies the installation process and eliminates the risk of losing hardware on the job site, keeping work moving efficiently.
  • Mounts directly onto concrete forms - lets you set the anchor before the pour, so there are no misplacement problems to correct after the concrete sets and no interference with wall framing alignment.
  • Fits nominal 2x6 or 3x6 sill plates - provides flexibility across a range of standard framing dimensions without requiring a different product for each application.
  • Made from 18-gauge steel - delivers structural reliability in a connector sized and formed for consistent, repeatable performance at the mudsill connection.
  • ZMAX galvanization offers extra corrosion resistance for exterior and treated-wood applications - the thicker galvanized coating holds up against moisture exposure and the chemical contact associated with pressure-treated lumber, making it suitable where standard galvanized hardware falls short.
  • Suitable for stemwall or slab foundations - covers the two most common residential foundation types, reducing the need to source separate connectors for different project conditions.

Why This Product

  • Eliminates the most frustrating anchor bolt problem - because this mudsill anchor is set on the form before the pour rather than cast in place, misaligned hardware that conflicts with stud or door layouts becomes a problem of the past, saving time and rework costs at the framing stage.
  • Built for treated-wood and exterior conditions - the ZMAX galvanized coating provides a higher level of corrosion protection than standard galvanized finishes, making this anchor a dependable long-term choice where moisture and treated lumber chemicals are ongoing concerns.
  • A cost-effective alternative to traditional anchor bolts - the one-piece construction and straightforward form-mounting process reduce both material and labor costs compared to setting, aligning, and finishing conventional threaded anchor bolts with separate nuts and washers.
  • Versatile across common foundation and framing types - with compatibility for both stemwall and slab foundations and support for 2x6 and 3x6 sill plates, this single connector covers a wide range of standard construction scenarios without requiring substitutions or special accommodations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size sill plate is the LMA6Z designed to work with?
The LMA6Z is designed for use with nominal 2x6 or 3x6 sill plates, making it versatile for a range of standard framing applications on both stemwall and slab foundations.
What nails are required to install the LMA6Z mudsill anchor?
Install with 0.148 in. x 1-1/2 in. nails in the sides and top.
Why choose the LMA6Z over traditional anchor bolts?
The LMA6Z mounts directly onto forms before the concrete is poured, eliminating the common problem of misplaced anchor bolts that can interfere with wall framing alignment. Its one-piece design also means there are no nuts and washers to lose, simplifying the installation process and making finishing easier.
What makes the ZMAX coating on the LMA6Z beneficial?
ZMAX galvanization is a thicker galvanized finish that offers extra corrosion resistance compared to standard galvanized coatings, making the LMA6Z particularly suitable for exterior and treated-wood applications where moisture exposure and chemical contact from treated lumber are common concerns.

Note: Not for use where a horizontal cold joint exists between the slab and foundation wall or footing beneath, unless provisions are made to transfer the load. Install while concrete is still wet. Do not attach mudsill until concrete cures.
