Product Description

The Simpson Heli-Tie 3/8 in. x 12 in. Helical Wall Tie is a Type 304 stainless steel masonry connector engineered to anchor building facades to structural members and to stabilize brick walls in both new construction and retrofit applications. The helical design allows the tie to be driven into a predrilled pilot hole - or embedded directly into mortar joints during new construction - forming a reliable mechanical connection between a masonry facade and its backup material. As the tie is driven, its fins undercut the masonry to create an expansion-free anchorage that withstands both tension and compression loads. Compatible with concrete, masonry, wood stud, and steel stud backup systems, this wall tie is installed using the HELITOOL37A Heli-Tie fastener installation tool with a rotohammer in hammer mode.

Key Features

  • Rotohammer-driven installation in hammer mode - the tie installs faster than competitive products, reducing labor time on the job site
  • Countersunk up to 1/2 in. below the masonry surface after installation - allows the tie location to be patched, providing an inconspicuous repair that preserves the appearance of the building
  • Larger core diameter with higher torsional capacity - results in less deflection due to "uncoiling" under load, maintaining connection integrity over time
  • Fractionally sized 3/8 in. anchor requiring only a 7/32 in. or 1/4 in. drill bit - no metric drill bits needed, keeping the installation straightforward with standard tooling
  • Type 304 stainless steel construction - delivers long-term corrosion resistance in exterior facade and masonry wall tie applications where moisture exposure is a concern
  • Performs in multiple backup materials - installs into concrete, masonry, wood studs, and steel studs, making it a versatile solution for a wide range of wall assembly types

Why This Product

  • Expansion-free anchorage for demanding load conditions - the helical fin design mechanically undercuts the masonry as the tie is driven, creating an anchor that resists both tension and compression without the risk of expansion stress cracking the surrounding material
  • A single tie for new construction and masonry repair - whether embedded into fresh mortar joints on a new build or driven into a predrilled hole to retrofit and replace failing wall ties, this helical wall tie handles both scenarios without swapping to a different product
  • Clean, patchable finish protects building aesthetics - because the tie is countersunk below the surface after installation, repair work on existing brick facades can be concealed completely, a meaningful advantage on historically sensitive or high-visibility structures
  • Engineered for speed without sacrificing strength - the larger core diameter improves torsional capacity and reduces uncoiling under load, while the rotohammer-driven installation process keeps crews working efficiently across concrete, masonry, wood, and steel stud backup systems
