Product Description

The Simpson HWSC6-KT Head-of-Wall Slide-Clip Connector is engineered to simplify the panelization of printed studs used in off-site and modular framing systems such as FrameCAD, Arkitech, Howick, and Pinnacle. By replacing slotted track - which is notoriously difficult to panelize - with a typical printed track at head-of-wall conditions, this clip streamlines the construction workflow without sacrificing structural performance. A cone-shaped funnel built into the clip guides the track dimple into precise alignment and holds the connection securely while screws are driven into each flange, and shoulder screws driven through the center of the fastener slots complete the stud attachment. As an option, a single screw can temporarily lock the deflection gap in place during panel transport and construction, then be removed once installation is complete.

Key Features

  • Cone-shaped dimple guides track alignment automatically - eliminates manual guessing during assembly, locking the connection in place while screws are installed into each flange for faster, more accurate installation
  • Edge stiffener rolled into the web and flange - adds structural strength to the clip and makes it easier to drive screws into the clip flange during installation, reducing effort and improving consistency
  • Replaces slotted track with typical printed track - removes a major bottleneck in panelized framing workflows, allowing fabricators to use standard printed track at head-of-wall conditions instead of specialty slotted components
  • Designed specifically for 6-in. printed studs - provides a properly sized, purpose-built connection for panelization systems using 6-inch printed steel framing members
  • Built-in deflection capability via fastener slot design - accommodates building movement without compromising the structural connection, and an optional temporary screw lets crews lock the gap during panel transport before restoring full deflection on site
  • Made from 16-gauge steel with G90 zinc galvanized coating - delivers the material thickness and corrosion resistance needed for demanding framing applications
  • Assembly-tested by Simpson Strong-Tie for optimal strength and performance - gives contractors and engineers confidence that the connector meets expected load and movement requirements before it ever reaches the job site
  • Includes 110 XLSH78B1414 #14 shouldered screws with 50 connectors - the critical shoulder screws needed for stud attachment come in the kit, so crews have the right fasteners on hand without a separate order

Why This Product

  • Built for panelization workflows - the HWSC6-KT was specifically designed to work with printed studs from systems like FrameCAD, Arkitech, Howick, and Pinnacle, making it a direct fit for fabricators and contractors who build wall panels off-site rather than a workaround solution adapted from standard components
  • Self-aligning design reduces installation errors - the cone-shaped dimple that guides the track into position means installers spend less time adjusting and repositioning during assembly, which matters most in high-volume panelized production environments where speed and repeatability are critical
  • Eliminates the need for slotted track - by allowing the use of typical printed track at head-of-wall conditions, this clip removes a component that creates real difficulties in panelized framing, simplifying material procurement and streamlining the panel build process
  • Tested construction with included fasteners - Simpson Strong-Tie assembly-tested this connector to verify strength and performance, and the kit includes the shoulder screws required for the stud connection, so the product arrives ready to install with confidence in both the hardware and the fastening system

Frequently Asked Questions

What stud size is the HWSC6-KT designed for?

The HWSC6-KT is specifically designed for use with 6-inch printed studs. The clip itself measures 5-3/4 inches in width and is intended to simplify the panelization of printed studs used in off-site and panelized framing systems such as FrameCAD, Arkitech, Howick, and Pinnacle.

How much vertical movement does this connector allow?

The HWSC6-KT allows up to 1 inch of movement up and down. This deflection capability is built into the fastener slot design, and an optional screw can be used to temporarily lock the deflection gap in place during panel transport and construction - that optional screw is removed once installation is complete.

What fasteners are required to install the HWSC6-KT, and are they included?

Installation requires one #10-16 screw into each track flange to each flange of the clip, and two XLSH78B1414 #14 shoulder screws driven through the center of the slot at the No-Equal logo position. Each kit includes 50 connectors and 110 XLSH78B1414 #14 shouldered screws, so the shoulder screws needed for the stud connection come included. The #10-16 track flange screws are not listed as included and would need to be sourced separately.

What material and finish is used on the HWSC6-KT?

The HWSC6-KT is made from 54-mil (16-gauge) steel and features a Zinc Galvanized G90 coating for corrosion resistance. An edge stiffener has also been rolled into the web and flange of the clip to provide added strength and to make it easier to drive screws into the clip flange during installation.
