Product Description
The Powermatic 201HH Planer is a professional-grade, heavy-duty thickness planer engineered for woodworking shops that demand exceptional surface quality, rock-solid rigidity, and long-term durability. Powered by a 7.5HP, 3-Phase, 230V motor and built with an all cast iron construction, this machine delivers the stability and precision required for both rough dimensioning and fine finish planing of hardwoods and softwoods alike. At the heart of the 201HH is a helical cutterhead equipped with 125 four-sided carbide knife inserts, producing a noticeably smoother, quieter cut than conventional straight-knife cutterhead systems.
Key Features
- Helical cutterhead with 125 four-sided carbide knife inserts provides smoother, quieter cutting and finer finish than conventional systems
- 2 feed speeds - 20 and 30 fpm - accommodates rough and fine finish work, allowing operators to match feed rate to the material and desired surface quality
- All cast iron construction; the heavy cast iron table travels on two large lead screws for precise, repeatable depth adjustments
- Segmented infeed roller with sectional chip breaker for planing multiple height stock simultaneously
- Adjustable bed rollers allow smooth feeding of rough or finished workpieces
- Roller bearing-mounted feed rollers for smooth operation and long service life
- Dust chute with 5" port for straightforward connection to dust collection systems
- Cast iron construction throughout ensures maximum rigidity and vibration damping for consistent planing accuracy

Frequently Asked Questions
- What type of cutterhead does the Powermatic 201HH use, and why does it matter?
- The 201HH features a helical cutterhead with 125 four-sided carbide knife inserts. This design provides smoother, quieter cutting and a finer finish than conventional straight-knife cutterhead systems. Because each insert has four usable cutting edges, they can be rotated to a fresh edge when one side dulls, extending the overall life of the tooling.
- Can the 201HH plane multiple boards of different thicknesses at the same time?
- Yes. The segmented infeed roller and sectional chip breaker are specifically designed to allow planing of multiple height stock simultaneously, making it possible to run boards of varying thicknesses in a single pass.
- What are the two feed speeds used for?
- The two feed speeds - 20 fpm and 30 fpm - are selected based on the type of cut being performed. The slower 20 fpm speed is ideal for fine finish work where maximum surface quality is the priority, while the faster 30 fpm speed is suited to rough stock removal for faster material dimensioning.
- What size dust collection port does the 201HH have?
- The machine is equipped with a dust chute featuring a 5" port, allowing it to connect directly to most shop dust collection systems for effective chip and dust removal during operation.

FREIGHT SHIPMENTS
It is important to assess the product being shipped against your location and material-handling capabilities.
Please be aware that your location needs to be prepared to properly handle and sign for freight shipments. You need to have access to a dock location, a forklift or the ability to unload the product from the freight carrier's trailer.
If your location does not have a traditional loading dock or forklift to unload your LTL freight out of the trailer, a Lift gate service will be required. There will be an additional charge for the service. It varies by carrier and even by market with different carriers. It often depends on the supply and demand of lift gate equipped trucks in your area.
Some machines require Flatbed shipping. There will be an additional charge for this service. Flatbed shipping is for the transportation of cargo that cannot be loaded or unloaded from a dock, or does not fit within the dimensions of standard truck trailers. A flatbed’s design allows for cranes and forklifts to load goods from all angles.
If a shipment is too heavy or the footprint (i.e., panel saws, metalworking lathes, mill/drills) is too large to ship via small parcel carrier (USPS, UPS or FedEx), it is shipped via a freight carrier. Freight shipments are considered tail gate deliveries, meaning that the driver is only responsible for moving the shipment to the rear of the trailer and will not assist with unloading.
For non-commercial deliveries, the freight carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery window and confirm if lift gate services are required. If lift gate service is requested, the driver is responsible for lowering the product to the ground during delivery. Freight shipments delivered to a residential location are considered curb side deliveries, meaning the driver will make the delivery in the street at the end of the customer’s driveway. Freight Carriers are not required to enter driveways to make residential deliveries due to liability and safety issues.
Although most deliveries go smoothly, sometimes there are exceptions beyond our control. Machines weighing over 2,000 pounds, bulky and oversized machines with a large footprint may not be able to be delivered via a lift gate for risk of injury or damage to the machine. There are also inaccessible remote, residential or high density urban areas that freight carriers cannot safely access. If encountered, such shipments are available for dock delivery or will be required to be picked up from the carrier’s terminal.
