Frequently Asked Questions

What is the spindle speed range on the JET JTM-4VS, and what does variable speed mean for my machining work?
The JTM-4VS offers a variable spindle speed range of 60 to 4,200 RPM. Variable speed means you can dial in the exact RPM needed for your material and tool diameter without stopping to change belt positions, giving you smooth, stepless speed control for operations ranging from heavy face milling at low speeds to high-speed finish end milling.
What does the Newall DP700 DRO add to this mill, and which axes does it cover?
The integrated Newall DP700 Digital Readout provides real-time positional display on all three axes - X (table longitudinal), Y (table cross), and Z (quill) - allowing you to precisely track and set cutting positions without relying solely on handwheel dials. This significantly reduces setup time, eliminates cumulative measurement error, and improves part-to-part repeatability.
How does the pneumatic power draw bar work, and why is it beneficial?
The pneumatic power draw bar uses air pressure to rapidly clamp and release R-8 toolholders in the spindle. Instead of manually spinning a wrench to tighten or loosen the draw bar, the operator actuates the pneumatic system with a button, dramatically speeding up tool changes and reducing fatigue during high-volume or production work.
Does the JTM-4VS include a coolant pump, and how is the coolant system integrated?
The JTM-4VS features an internal coolant tank built directly into the casting base, which provides a clean, space-saving reservoir ready for connection to a coolant system. However, the coolant pump is not included and must be sourced separately. The built-in tank means no external reservoir is needed once a compatible pump is added.

FREIGHT SHIPMENTS

It is important to assess the product being shipped against your location and  material-handling capabilities.

Please be aware that your location needs to be prepared to properly handle and sign for freight shipments. You need to have access to a dock location, a forklift or the ability to unload the product from the freight carrier's trailer.

If your location does not have a traditional loading dock or forklift to unload your LTL freight out of the trailer, a Lift gate service will be required. There will be an additional charge for the service. It varies by carrier and even by market with different carriers. It often depends on the supply and demand of lift gate equipped trucks in your area.

Some machines require Flatbed shipping. There will be an additional charge for this service. Flatbed shipping is for the transportation of cargo that cannot be loaded or unloaded from a dock, or does not fit within the dimensions of standard truck trailers. A flatbed’s design allows for cranes and forklifts to load goods from all angles.

If a shipment is too heavy or the footprint (i.e., panel saws, metalworking lathes, mill/drills) is too large to ship via small parcel carrier (USPS, UPS or FedEx), it is shipped via a freight carrier. Freight shipments are considered tail gate deliveries, meaning that the driver is only responsible for moving the shipment to the rear of the trailer and will not assist with unloading.

For non-commercial deliveries, the freight carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery window and confirm if lift gate services are required. If lift gate service is requested, the driver is responsible for lowering the product to the ground during delivery. Freight shipments delivered to a residential location are considered curb side deliveries, meaning the driver will make the delivery in the street at the end of the customer’s driveway. Freight Carriers are not required to enter driveways to make residential deliveries due to liability and safety issues.

Although most deliveries go smoothly, sometimes there are exceptions beyond  our control. Machines weighing over 2,000 pounds, bulky and oversized machines with a large footprint may not be able to be delivered via a lift gate for risk of injury or damage to the machine. There are also inaccessible remote, residential or high density urban areas that freight carriers cannot safely access. If encountered, such shipments are available for dock delivery or will be required to be picked up from the carrier’s terminal.
