Product Description
JET EVS-1440 Electronic Variable Speed Lathe with Newall DP700 DRO & Taper Attachment, 3HP is a precision-engineered metalworking lathe from JET designed to maximize shop output across a wide range of turning applications. Featuring electronic variable speed control, a built-in Newall DP700 Digital Readout, and a taper attachment, this machine delivers the accuracy, rigidity, and operator convenience demanded by serious machinists. The D1-4 spindle is precision ground for accuracy and supported by class 7 tapered roller bearings capable of a run-out maximum of .0004", while Meehanite castings retain their tolerance and remain rigid over many years of machining.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the full spindle speed range on this lathe?
- The spindle speed range runs from 40-2000 RPM. The two-speed gearbox delivers a low-speed range of 40-365 RPM and a high-speed range of 220-2,000 RPM, with the LED RPM readout allowing operators to monitor and set precise turning speeds at all times.
- How does the lathe help prevent inaccuracies caused by backlash?
- Both the compound slide and the cross slide feature backlash elimination, ensuring that positioning movements remain precise and repeatable throughout the life of the machine.
- What threading capabilities does this lathe offer?
- The lathe supports 34 inch thread pitches ranging from 2-56 TPI and 34 metric thread pitches ranging from 0.5-12 mm. It also features an independent lead screw and feed rod along with a Threading Dial Indicator for accurate thread engagement.
- What power supply is required to operate this machine?
- This lathe requires a 230V, 3-phase electrical supply to operate its 3HP motor. It is intended for professional shop environments equipped with appropriate three-phase power infrastructure.

FREIGHT SHIPMENTS
It is important to assess the product being shipped against your location and material-handling capabilities.
Please be aware that your location needs to be prepared to properly handle and sign for freight shipments. You need to have access to a dock location, a forklift or the ability to unload the product from the freight carrier's trailer.
If your location does not have a traditional loading dock or forklift to unload your LTL freight out of the trailer, a Lift gate service will be required. There will be an additional charge for the service. It varies by carrier and even by market with different carriers. It often depends on the supply and demand of lift gate equipped trucks in your area.
Some machines require Flatbed shipping. There will be an additional charge for this service. Flatbed shipping is for the transportation of cargo that cannot be loaded or unloaded from a dock, or does not fit within the dimensions of standard truck trailers. A flatbed’s design allows for cranes and forklifts to load goods from all angles.
If a shipment is too heavy or the footprint (i.e., panel saws, metalworking lathes, mill/drills) is too large to ship via small parcel carrier (USPS, UPS or FedEx), it is shipped via a freight carrier. Freight shipments are considered tail gate deliveries, meaning that the driver is only responsible for moving the shipment to the rear of the trailer and will not assist with unloading.
For non-commercial deliveries, the freight carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery window and confirm if lift gate services are required. If lift gate service is requested, the driver is responsible for lowering the product to the ground during delivery. Freight shipments delivered to a residential location are considered curb side deliveries, meaning the driver will make the delivery in the street at the end of the customer’s driveway. Freight Carriers are not required to enter driveways to make residential deliveries due to liability and safety issues.
Although most deliveries go smoothly, sometimes there are exceptions beyond our control. Machines weighing over 2,000 pounds, bulky and oversized machines with a large footprint may not be able to be delivered via a lift gate for risk of injury or damage to the machine. There are also inaccessible remote, residential or high density urban areas that freight carriers cannot safely access. If encountered, such shipments are available for dock delivery or will be required to be picked up from the carrier’s terminal.
