Product Description

Baileigh Non-Ferrous Metal Cutting Cold Saw CS-355SA from Baileigh is a semi-automatic cold saw engineered for high-volume production cutting of aluminum, copper, and other soft non-ferrous metals. By spinning at 3,200 rpm and automating the full cut cycle - from blade start to automatic head return - this saw delivers ripple-free, burr-minimal edges cut after cut, dramatically reducing operator fatigue and keeping throughput high.

Key Features

  • Accepts blades up to 14" in diameter for versatile material coverage
  • High-speed 5.5 hp motor spins the blade at 3,200 rpm - the ideal speed range for cutting soft metals prone to gumming up conventional blades
  • Belt-drive transmission transfers power from the motor to the blade efficiently, maximizing rpm attainment quickly while minimizing the number of mechanical components that could fail
  • Maximum cutting capacity of 4.25" round tube at 90 deg., accommodating a wide range of structural profiles
  • Mitering capability of 45 deg. right and 90 deg. left for angled cuts in fabrication and production environments
  • Pneumatic (air-powered) vise clamps material securely at the press of a foot pedal, keeping both operator hands free and speeding up cycle times
  • American-style self-centering vise automatically adjusts when switching between different tube or pipe diameters - no manual repositioning required
  • Dual-jaw vise design grips material on both the left and right sides of the blade, providing secure, balanced clamping throughout the cut
  • Semi-automatic cut cycle: once activated, the saw starts the blade, lowers it through the material, then shuts the blade off and raises the head back to the top position automatically
  • Consistent, controlled descent speed prolongs blade life and ensures repeatable cut quality across long production runs
  • Motor operates on 220-volt 3-phase power, suited for industrial shop environments

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is 3,200 rpm the right speed for cutting aluminum and copper?
Soft non-ferrous metals like aluminum and copper require a higher blade speed than ferrous metals. Running at 3,200 rpm keeps the blade moving fast enough to shear through material cleanly rather than dragging, which is what causes gumming - where metal melts and sticks to blade teeth. This speed range is specifically matched to non-ferrous cutting for ripple-free, clean-edged results.
What does "semi-automatic" mean in practice for this saw?
Once the operator clamps the material using the foot-pedal-activated pneumatic vise, the semi-automatic system takes over the cutting cycle entirely: it starts the blade, lowers it at a controlled descent speed through the material, then shuts the blade off and raises the head back to its starting position automatically. The operator does not need to manually guide or retract the head, which saves time and reduces physical effort during long production runs.
Why does the self-centering vise matter for tube and pipe cutting?
When cutting different diameters of round tube or pipe in sequence - as is common in production environments - a standard vise requires manual repositioning each time the diameter changes. The American-style self-centering vise on the CS-355SA adjusts automatically to each new diameter, eliminating that setup step and keeping the material centered and securely held by jaws on both sides of the blade without any additional adjustment from the operator.
What are the advantages of a belt drive over a direct or gear drive for this application?
The belt drive on the CS-355SA allows the motor to bring the blade up to its maximum 3,200 rpm quickly and smoothly while keeping the mechanical system simple. Fewer moving parts in the drivetrain means fewer components that can wear out or require maintenance over time, contributing to long-term reliability in demanding production environments.

FREIGHT SHIPMENTS

It is important to assess the product being shipped against your location and  material-handling capabilities.

Please be aware that your location needs to be prepared to properly handle and sign for freight shipments. You need to have access to a dock location, a forklift or the ability to unload the product from the freight carrier's trailer.

If your location does not have a traditional loading dock or forklift to unload your LTL freight out of the trailer, a Lift gate service will be required. There will be an additional charge for the service. It varies by carrier and even by market with different carriers. It often depends on the supply and demand of lift gate equipped trucks in your area.

Some machines require Flatbed shipping. There will be an additional charge for this service. Flatbed shipping is for the transportation of cargo that cannot be loaded or unloaded from a dock, or does not fit within the dimensions of standard truck trailers. A flatbed’s design allows for cranes and forklifts to load goods from all angles.

If a shipment is too heavy or the footprint (i.e., panel saws, metalworking lathes, mill/drills) is too large to ship via small parcel carrier (USPS, UPS or FedEx), it is shipped via a freight carrier. Freight shipments are considered tail gate deliveries, meaning that the driver is only responsible for moving the shipment to the rear of the trailer and will not assist with unloading.

For non-commercial deliveries, the freight carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery window and confirm if lift gate services are required. If lift gate service is requested, the driver is responsible for lowering the product to the ground during delivery. Freight shipments delivered to a residential location are considered curb side deliveries, meaning the driver will make the delivery in the street at the end of the customer’s driveway. Freight Carriers are not required to enter driveways to make residential deliveries due to liability and safety issues.

Although most deliveries go smoothly, sometimes there are exceptions beyond  our control. Machines weighing over 2,000 pounds, bulky and oversized machines with a large footprint may not be able to be delivered via a lift gate for risk of injury or damage to the machine. There are also inaccessible remote, residential or high density urban areas that freight carriers cannot safely access. If encountered, such shipments are available for dock delivery or will be required to be picked up from the carrier’s terminal.
