Product Description
Simpson Strong-Tie Strong-Drive SDCF TIMBER-CF Screw - 0.470 in. x 17-3/4 in., T50, E-Coat is a heavy-duty structural screw engineered by Simpson Strong-Tie for cross-laminated timber (CLT), mass timber construction, glulam beams, and general interior wood-to-wood fastening applications. The redesigned SDCF delivers uncompromised holding strength in demanding heavy timber and engineered wood assemblies, combining a fully-threaded shank for superior withdrawal resistance with a black e-coat electrocoating finish that resists corrosion in interior dry-service environments. Whether you are fastening support beams, reinforcing multi-ply engineered lumber, or connecting wall-to-wall framing, this structural screw is built for professional-grade performance where reliability and precision matter most.
Key Features
- Flat head with underhead nibs - enables clean countersinking so the screw sits flush with the wood surface for a finished, professional appearance
- Heavy-duty, fully-threaded shank - maximizes withdrawal resistance throughout the entire fastened connection, providing structural integrity in mass timber and CLT applications
- SawTooth point - starts fast and drives easily, reducing installation torque and eliminating the need for predrilling in most applications to speed up your workflow
- Black e-coat electrocoating finish - provides a construction-durable nonmetallic coating that resists corrosion in interior dry-service conditions while enhancing aesthetics
- Optimized hardness profile - works alongside the e-coat finish to help mitigate the risk of brittle fracture for reliable, long-term structural performance
- Deep T50 6-lobe recess - delivers a secure drive connection that reduces cam-out and maintains control during installation
- Compliant with CSA O86:24 hydrogen embrittlement requirements - meets code standards for structural wood screw applications in regulated environments
- 17-3/4 in. length with 16-3/4 in. thread length - provides deep thread engagement through thick timber members for maximum holding power in heavy timber framing
Why This Product
- Purpose-built for mass timber and CLT construction - the SDCF is specifically designed for cross-laminated timber and mass timber assemblies where structural integrity under load demands more than a standard wood screw can provide
- No predrilling required in most applications - the SawTooth point cuts through dense wood fibers quickly, saving labor time and reducing the number of tools needed on the job site
- Corrosion resistance without metallic coating - the black e-coat electrocoating is a nonmetallic finish that protects the fastener in interior dry-service environments while keeping a clean, consistent black appearance across the installation
- Engineered for code-compliant structural connections - compliance with CSA O86:24 hydrogen embrittlement requirements means this fastener meets recognized standards for structural wood applications, giving contractors and engineers confidence in the connection
