- Install with Simpson Strong-Tie Strong-Drive SD Connector screws: (4) #9 x 1-1/2 in. screws in the header AND (4) #9 x 2-1/2 in. screws in the joist, OR (8) 0.162 in. x 3-1/2 in. Strong-Drive SCN Smooth-Shank Connector nails (Models: SD9112, SD9212, 16DHDG). Always use all specified fasteners; see Load Tables for full requirements.
- What is the double-shear nailing design and why does it matter?
- The patented double-shear nailing design distributes the load through two points on each joist nail rather than one. This provides greater connection strength while allowing fewer nails to be used, which speeds up installation and permits the use of all common nails for the same connection.
- Can the LUS26-2 be modified in the field to fit a different application?
- No. The LUS26-2 cannot be modified. Tabs must not be bent or removed, as doing so would compromise the structural integrity and void the load-rated, code-compliant performance of the hanger.
- How should joist nails be driven during installation?
- Joist nails must be driven at an angle through the joist or truss into the header in order to achieve the tabulated load values. The angled nailing design also makes installation easier when working in tight spaces.
