The Simpson HSUR5.12/11 HSUR Galvanized Joist Hanger for 5 in. x 11-7/8 in. Engineered Wood, Skewed Right by Simpson Strong-Tie is a heavy-duty, 45 deg.-skewed U-shaped hanger engineered to support large joist members or double I-joists in wood construction. The hanger's encapsulating design wraps around the top flange of the joist, eliminating the need for web stiffeners during standard installation and streamlining the build process.

- What is the difference between the HSUR and HSUL hanger?
- The HSUR and HSUL hangers are identical in construction except that the HSUR is skewed 45 deg. to the right and the HSUL is skewed 45 deg. to the left. Choose the correct orientation based on the direction your joist skews relative to the header.
- Do I need web stiffeners when installing the HSUR5.12/11?
- No. The heavy U-shaped design encapsulates the top flange of the joist, so no web stiffeners are required for standard installation.
- Can the HSUR5.12/11 accommodate joist skew angles other than exactly 45 deg.?
- Yes. While these hangers cannot be modified, they are designed to accommodate joist skew angles ranging from 40 deg. to 50 deg., providing a degree of flexibility for field conditions.
- What fasteners are required to install the HSUR5.12/11?
- Installation requires (16) 0.162 in. x 3-1/2 in. nails in the face and (2) 0.148 in. x 1-1/2 in. nails in the joist.
