Product Description
The Simpson BA2.56/26 is a top-flange joist hanger built for 2-1/2 in. x 26 in. engineered wood and solid sawn lumber members. Part of Simpson's cost-effective BA series, this hanger is designed to carry medium loads with solid sawn lumber and higher loads with engineered wood products, making it a practical choice for a wide range of structural framing applications. Min./max. nailing options give engineers and contractors the design versatility to meet varying load demands without switching to a different connector.
Key Features
- Two-level embossment at the top flange - provides increased stiffness, helping the hanger maintain structural integrity under load without added reinforcement.
- Full-height joist flange - captures the top chord of the joist to prevent rotation and eliminate the need for web stiffeners, saving installation time and material cost.
- Min./max. nailing options - minimum nailing targets moderate load demands, whereas maximum nailing allows higher loads, giving designers flexibility within a single hanger model.
- Available for special order to accommodate sloped and/or skewed members - allows the hanger to adapt to non-standard framing angles, reducing the need for custom fabrication on complex assemblies.
- 12-gauge steel construction - delivers the structural strength needed for medium-to-high load engineered wood framing connections.
- G90 zinc galvanized finish - provides extra corrosion resistance, extending service life in demanding framing environments.
Why This Product
- Handles both engineered wood and solid sawn lumber - the BA2.56/26 is rated for medium loads with solid sawn lumber and higher loads with engineered wood products, so one hanger covers a broad range of common framing scenarios without needing separate connectors.
- Eliminates web stiffeners - the full-height joist flange captures the top chord of the joist and prevents rotation, removing an extra installation step and reducing material costs on engineered wood framing projects.
- Built-in design flexibility through variable nailing - the ability to shift between minimum and maximum nailing schedules lets structural designers optimize load capacity for the specific demands of each connection, all within the same hanger profile.
- Cost-effective corrosion protection - the G90 galvanized coating delivers durable resistance to corrosion, making this hanger a reliable long-term solution for joist-to-header connections where moisture exposure is a consideration.

Frequently Asked Questions
What joist size is the BA2.56/26 designed to fit?
The BA2.56/26 is designed to fit a joist measuring 2-1/2 in. x 26 in. This applies to both engineered wood products and solid sawn lumber members of that size.
What nails should be used to install the BA2.56/26?
Install the BA2.56/26 with 0.162 in. x 3-1/2 in. nails in the header and 0.148 in. x 1-1/2 in. nails in the joist. The hanger supports minimum and maximum nailing options, allowing moderate load demands to be met with minimum nailing and higher loads to be achieved with maximum nailing.
Does the BA2.56/26 work with both engineered wood and solid sawn lumber?
Yes. The BA2.56/26 is designed for use with both engineered wood products and solid sawn lumber. It carries medium loads with solid sawn lumber and is capable of handling higher loads when used with engineered wood products.
Can the BA2.56/26 be used for sloped or skewed installations?
The standard BA2.56/26 is not configured for sloped or skewed members, but it is available for special order to accommodate sloped and/or skewed applications. Contact your supplier to inquire about special order options for non-standard installation angles.
