Product Description

The Simpson Heli-Tie Helical Wall Tie is a Type 304 stainless steel anchor tie engineered to secure building facades to structural members and to stabilize brick walls. Its helical design allows the tie to be driven quickly and easily into a predrilled pilot hole - or embedded directly into mortar joints during new construction - forming a reliable mechanical connection between a masonry facade and its backup material. As the tie is driven, its fins undercut the masonry to deliver expansion-free anchorage capable of withstanding both tension and compression loads. Compatible with concrete, masonry, wood stud, and steel stud backup systems, the Heli-Tie wall tie is installed using the HELITOOL37A Heli-Tie fastener installation tool with an SDS-plus shank rotohammer in hammer mode.

Key Features

  • Rotohammer-driven helical installation - with the rotohammer set to hammer mode, the tie installs faster than competitive products, reducing labor time on both new construction and retrofit projects
  • Countersinks up to 1/2 in. below the surface - the recessed final position allows the tie location to be patched, providing an inconspicuous repair that preserves the appearance of the building
  • Larger core diameter - provides higher torsional capacity, resulting in less deflection due to "uncoiling" under load and a more structurally dependable connection
  • Fractionally sized anchor requiring a 7/32 in. or 1/4 in. drill bit - no metric drill bits needed, making it easier to work with standard tool sets already on the job site
  • Type 304 stainless steel construction - delivers long-term corrosion resistance in exterior masonry and facade applications where moisture exposure is a concern
  • Performs in multiple backup materials - installs into concrete, masonry, wood studs, and steel studs, giving contractors flexibility across a wide range of wall assembly types

Why This Product

  • Engineered for speed without sacrificing anchorage quality - the helical design drives and countersinks in a single operation using a standard rotohammer in hammer mode, cutting installation time compared to alternative wall tie systems
  • Expansion-free anchorage protects surrounding masonry - as the tie is driven, its fins mechanically undercut the masonry rather than expanding outward, reducing the risk of stress cracking in the facade - a critical advantage in repair and retrofit work
  • Invisible after installation - because the tie countersinks up to 1/2 in. below the surface and the location can be patched, it is well suited for heritage buildings, historically sensitive facades, and any project where maintaining exterior appearance matters
  • Versatile across new construction and repair applications - the Heli-Tie wall tie can be embedded into mortar joints during new builds or driven into predrilled holes for retrofit anchoring, making it a single solution for multiple masonry tie scenarios

Frequently Asked Questions

What tool is required to install the Heli-Tie HELI37700A?

The Heli-Tie wall tie must be installed using the HELITOOL37A Heli-Tie fastener installation tool, which features an SDS-plus shank and is used with a rotohammer set to hammer mode to drive and countersink the tie.

What drill bit size is needed to prepare the pilot hole for this wall tie?

A pilot hole should be drilled using either a 7/32 in. or 1/4 in. diameter drill bit before driving the Heli-Tie into place. No metric drill bits are required, as this is a fractionally sized anchor.

What materials can the Heli-Tie HELI37700A be installed into?

The Heli-Tie wall tie is designed to perform in concrete and masonry backup materials as well as wood and steel stud construction, making it suitable for a wide range of façade anchoring and wall stabilization applications.

How does the Heli-Tie achieve an inconspicuous installation finish?

After installation, the tie is countersunk up to 1/2 in. below the masonry surface. This recessed placement allows the tie location to be patched, preserving the appearance of the building and leaving no visible hardware on the façade.
