Standoff Column Base for 8x8 is engineered by Simpson Strong-Tie to simplify the installation of waterproofing material on stacked balconies in multi-family buildings. Designed for use with hollow columns or solid-sawn posts, it is the only post base available off the shelf that features a 2-in. standoff - providing enough room for moisture barrier material and a thin finish surface while still allowing for the code-required 1-in. standoff needed to prevent post decay. The hot-dip galvanized finish delivers superior corrosion resistance, making it well suited for exterior and treated-wood applications.
